Single Trial P300 Recognition in a Virtual Environment
نویسندگان
چکیده
Virtual reality (VR) provides immersive and controllable experimental environments. It expands the bounds of possible evoked potential (EP) experiments by providing complex, dynamic environments in order to study cognition without sacriicing environmental control. The addition of quick, on-line analysis enables feedback to subjects, making the system we present ideal for safe Brain Computer Interface (BCI) research. In this context, we describe an experiment to recognize the existence of P300 EP epochs at red stoplights and the absence of this signal at yellow stoplights in a virtual driving environment. In order to determine the plausibility of single trial on-line P300 epoch analysis in the artifact ridden driving environment, we have compared the use of Independent Component Analysis (ICA), a Kalman lter, a robust Kalman lter, and correlation with the stoplight averages for recognition ability oo-line. We report that while all methods perform better than correlation , the robust Kalman lter gives the highest recognition accuracy and discuss future work in this context.

Abstract P300 is known as the most prominent component between cognitive components in electrical brain activity. According to done research, when brain encounters an inconsistent stimulation during processing a series of usual stimulation, a P300 component appears in recorded brain signal which could distinguishes from usual ones. Amplitude of P300 decreases after a short during act of auditor...

Objective: The disability to recognize facial emotions is one of the behavioral problems in autistic children. This study was designed to evaluate the effect of education on the promotion of face recognition. Methods: This single-blind clinical trial study was conducted on children with autism. The participants were allocated with random sampling to the two groups. Autistic children in the int...
متن کاملAn Intelligent Man-Machine Interface—Multi-Robot Control Adapted for Task Engagement Based on Single-Trial Detectability of P300
Advanced man-machine interfaces (MMIs) are being developed for teleoperating robots at remote and hardly accessible places. Such MMIs make use of a virtual environment and can therefore make the operator immerse him-/herself into the environment of the robot. In this paper, we present our developed MMI for multi-robot control. Our MMI can adapt to changes in task load and task engagement online...
متن کاملTask and Stimulation Paradigm Effects in a P300 Brain Computer Interface Exploitable in a Virtual Environment: A Pilot Study
The aim of the present study is to compare different visual elicitation paradigms exploitable in a Virtual Environment in order to establish whether the BCI is affected by the structure of the elicitation paradigm, the modalities of stimulus presentation, and the complexity of stimulus recognition and semantic processing. We have developed a device which can control the motion of a cursor on a ...
